The Woonie Crit brings high‑speed downtown criterium racing back to the streets of Woonsocket. Riders from across New England will compete on a fast and technical circuit in a full day of exciting racing.

Event Overview

The Woonie Crit is a USA Cycling sanctioned criterium race hosted by Tri‑State Cycling Club (TSCC).

This event revives the tradition of downtown bicycle racing in Woonsocket — inspired by the historic 1985 Woonsocket Criterium. The event will bring together professional racers, amateur riders, youth cyclists, and spectators for a full day of competitive racing and community celebration.

The downtown course provides a spectator‑friendly environment where fans can watch riders pass multiple times per race.

Youth 8–14 — 8:00 AM — 20 Minutes
Junior 15–18 — 8:25 AM — 30 Minutes
Cat 5 Men — 9:00 AM — 35 Minutes
Cat 4/5 Women — 9:40 AM — 40 Minutes
Cat 4 Men — 10:25 AM — 40 Minutes
Masters 40+ — 11:10 AM — 50 Minutes
Cat 3/4 Men — 12:05 PM — 45 Minutes
Women Pro/1/2/3 — 12:55 PM — 60 Minutes

Course Information

The Woonie Crit takes place on a closed downtown circuit in Woonsocket, Rhode Island.

Course details:

  • Approximately 0.7 – 1 mile circuit
  • Fast straights and technical corners
  • Spectator‑friendly viewing areas
  • Multiple prime opportunities

Prizes

Cash prizes will be awarded for podium finishers in select races.

Prime laps may also be offered during races.

History

Downtown criterium racing has a long history in Woonsocket.

In 1985, the city hosted a major downtown cycling race that brought together riders from across the region. The Woonie Crit continues that legacy by bringing competitive cycling back to the streets of Woonsocket and introducing a new generation of riders and fans to the excitement of criterium racing.

Spectator Information

The Woonie Crit is designed to be a community event.

Spectators will be able to watch the race from multiple locations along the downtown course. Restaurants, cafés, and local businesses will be open during the event.
